Swami's birthday is Nov. 23rd and Thanksgiving in America is on Nov. 24th. We should be thankful that the Avatar was born on this day but there are so few Americans who even know His name. Swami was born to save humanity and yet humanity is in really bad shape right now. If He has saved it, no one knows that. I heard someone say once that He saved us from a nuclear attack. Pakistan is sitting there with those bombs aimed at India so it could certainly be true. Why else could He have taken birth? Well, He said that He didn't come to start a religion. A new vital religion might have saved humanity especially with His thousands of wonderful bright college students who would have peopled the world and brought us into the golden age. But He didn't want that now.
So how has He saved humanity? Well, I know that He saved me, that's one. I know that He saved my friends Carol and Wendy and Barbara, that's three more. Oh and He saved Akasha and Dana and Fran too. He said that the only way humanity can be saved is by saving one by one. Each heart must find the Truth and live His teachings. I thought at the time He said this that it would take a long time but now it seems almost impossible to believe in this transformation. I believe I personally have been saved, transformed. As I look back on my life I can see that I was very selfish and unloving most of my life even though I was a social worker in California before going to India. I loved my clients but wasn't loving with my family. Now I just try to follow His teachings. In fact, maybe the teachings which He gave us will eventually save humanity. The teachings were not new but the very simplicity of those teachings may help us to be better people. So many times I say the words...help ever,hurt never, when I feel like turning away from someone in need. Or I will think to myself, 'love all, serve all' when I see a homeless person on the street. I think these small experiences have been what has saved me.
Perhaps no one knows His name over here but in my heart I can thank Him every moment for His grace, His tremendous grace. We're talking abut 30 plus years of constant grace. He has given me my life. Gratitude is too small a word for what I feel. All that I am, all that I ever will be I gained at His Lotus Feet. He is my constant companion now. I'm sorry that more Americans haven't had this transformation. Many Christians believe they will go to heaven and be with Jesus when He comes to take them to their home. I guess they have been saved from...what, from Hell? I think hell is right here on earth and that if we believe in goodness and mercy and compassion and kindness, as Swami has taught with His simple words, everyone could be saved from the hell all around us now. I wish He hadn't left so early. I don't think a day passes that I don't think, 'Oh Swami, if you were only still here on earth.' And yet I know that He is and was and will be forever perfect. He left at the exact right time. Maybe He was tired of baby sitting His devotees. Maybe the shock of His departure will force us to accept the truth and live His teachings. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOD. I think that's in the bible and Christians ignore it just like all of us Sai devotees ignored it until now. We can't anymore though because He is inside and we have to follow.

Expanding Universal Sai
You know, yesterday my mind was focusing only on my personal connection with Swami. I was trying to understand what part I was playing in His Mission to save humanity. I knew that His axions, 'help ever, hurt never' and 'love all, serve all', had been guiding me here in St. Petersburg as I was trying to make my way in a new life. Also I knew, I know that He has transformed this Susan Caffery into a much better person.
He is the smallest of the small and the biggest of the big. If we had the awareness I'm sure we could see that He is transforming even the little atoms and elements as part of the universal Atma. All the atoms of the Atma. I like that. Yes, He is all, He is everything and He is transforming everything at this very moment, this second. He is expanding just as the universe is expanding.
Here I sit in this tiny apartment with His teachings in my heart, trying in my small way to further His mission by helping the disabled and homeless people I meet...expanding, pushing boundaries slowly. I'm like a little atom in His universe, loving all and spreading His light, His teachings, just as MILLIONS of His devotees all over this world, are sitting in their tiny places loving everything around them. His devotees in Bosnia, in South Africa where He has five schools, in Thailand where He has His University, in Manila and in Canada and in Malaysia. These are central points of His teachings and light. There are thousands of small lights, thousands of His devotees expanding into the world from each point, all the time, loving Him, loving all. Just as the universe is expanding every second, His love, the people practicing His teachings, is also expanding every second of the day and night. Maybe His departure has seemed like an obstacle to His Mission but that simply cannot be true for He is the Kali Yuga Avatar and His will prevails. OUR LIGHT AND LOVE FOR SWAMI WILL INCREACE AND PREVAIL OVER THE ASSUMED DARKNESS OF THE WORLD.
I say 'assumed' because we don't want to get carried away with this duality, however, as we know that God is everything. Swami is the light and He is the darkness. He created both so that we could see the tapestry of life. If there was no darkness we would not grow and work for the transformation of ourselves or for anything else for that matter. He is the light and the darkness, the good and the bad, Democrat and Republican and He created both to give us the opportunity to pick our way slowly between the two extremes with care, always mindful of His simple, great teachings.
Anyway, I didn't want anyone to think I believed His mission stopped here in my own small place. I wanted everyone to be aware, always aware that His Mission is everywhere in this world, growing and expanding with light and love into all the dark places. The example which springs to mind is His Mission in Africa. Frankly because there are so many people of Indian origin in Africa, His work there is extraordinary. I'd like to write more about this but I don't even know the names of the countries there. But, of course He knows each and every tiny light expanding in each heart.

SAI Convocation
Sai Ram,
The excitement was of convocation and birthday next to each other. The crowd had increased to where Kulwant Hall was full. People from all over the world were there. This was the place to be. It was nice having so many people in the Hall again.
The culmination of a week of festivities honoring the one that was and is responsible for all.
There will be more great events which will fill the Hall until eventually it will be filled always.
Monday – November 21. On the day leading to convocation one wondered what this years events would be like. But for this evening, students presented a drama about the importance of the Guru - “Gurue Mahima”.
It started with a special dance. After which, Baba spoke to us over the public address system from a discourse about character and values
A play about the relationship of 3 youngsters, staying in an ashram, to their guru was explored. In this case, the guru was a musical maestro and the student were there to learn the intricacies of music from him.
The drama showed how a true guru helps those who are dedicated and devoted. And how the whole area prospered from his presence.
The comparison to Sai Baba was inevitable. It was really about Sai and the messages were his. Stories from epics and of great souls added to the depth of the story. (Photos)
Shirdi Sai came to mind when the Guru who had went away for a few days reappeared saying, “Where did I Go?” And Sathya Sai said he is forever “in the hearts of devotees.” “Their joy and sorrows are his”.
Another point that was emphasized was that change was always happening.
Music added to significance of the drama. It emphasized the special spiritual connections that exist between Master and Disciple. His influences always work through the disciple even if the Master is not physically present.
The finale was the highlight. When the electric lights were turned off, many people sat with lit candles illuminating the Hall. The candles had been lit from one candle. The light spread. The divine spirit permeates everywhere.
Baba is everyplace. He is the light which removes all darkness. We will keep Sai name in our hearts always. (Photo)
Before the drama several faculty members received Sai Krishna Awards for excellence in research.
Tuesday - November 22. The big day for the 30th Convocation of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning took place mid-morning. Following the brass band was a procession of officials. (Photos)
The Vice Chancellor was confident that Baba was watching the proceedings (He was). He explained the many achievements of Sai’s university and added the university will continue to follow the ideals that Baba wanted.
Gold medals for academic excellence was awarded to 22 students.
The chief guest was Professor Balaram, director of the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. He hailed the Sai University as unique especially with the discipline that Baba required. Balaram emphasized the importance of hard work regardless of failures. Failures are common but should be treat with equanimity. He wished the students success by using discipline, commitment and hard work.
The Chancellor of the University, Sai Baba, spoke next through video. He emphasized the importance of knowing thyself and the need for introspection. Real knowledge is beyond science. You need to understand the spiritual principles behind your work.
Baba also mentioned the importance of service to the motherland. He blessed the students to proceed along the path of self-realization.
It was 11:40 when the national anthem was sung followed by arathi.
The evening program was to top all previous events. First, there was the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Super Speciality Hospital with the showing of a video about how the hospital came into being including the construction Actual footage was used. The video was called “Praying Hearts Serving Hands”. If you get a chance to watch it, you will be fascinated by it.
Emphasis was made about how quickly it was done from start to finish in one year, that it was completely free and that more free hospitals were needed.
The second program was beyond words. It truly defies description. It was “Taala Vaadya Kacheri” by Mridangam maestro Karaikkudi Mani. His specialty was percussion with a special beat. The others in the group were Jazz musicians from Europe and Asia. (Photo)
Their world music band is known as Shanmakhaa. They played compositions based on Carnatic, Hindustani and Classical folk melodies combined with the influence of the West. Their underlying theme is World Peace.
Rhythm and melody in a harmonious blend wove the music into an ecstasy that uplifted anyone that could hear or feel the music including the hall itself.
To make the experience richer, screens and monitors that had been set up showed close-ups of the actual playing. It was unbelievable the dexterity of the hands and how quickly they moved.
A feast of ears and eyes for the body and the soul.
The one hour performance was constantly greeted with applauds from everyone. If they continued playing longer, probably no one would move.
Baba who was sitting in the chair enjoyed the performance. At times, he closed his eyes as to go somewhere else in bliss.
We left flying out of the hall after arathi. Certainly all of us felt better.

People surrender their dignity and status to other men and women for wealth, fame, possessions, pomp, power, etc. But rarely does one get the chance to surrender to the Lord for the sake of the Lord! How can one feel the urge to do so, so long as one craves for the materialistic objects (aadheya) and not the Source of the objects (Aadhaara)? How long can the baseless satisfy? People want the created not the creator; things from the hand, but not the Hand! Can there be an object without the cause? No. God alone is the 'Uncaused'. It is sheer ignorance to surrender individuality for the sake of the caused. Surrender rather to the Cause, the Source, the Origin of all - Sarveswara. This is genuine surrender or Saranagathi.

You will attain quick progress in the spiritual path if you overcome the difficult obstacles, viz. anger, pride, conceit, the tendency to discover the faults of others, etc. These operate subconsciously, as the currents in the depths of the ocean. You must be vigilant not to lose your temper on even small things, for that will hinder your progress. Cultivate love and humility towards all. Then, undesirable habits will fall away from you, since anger is the parent of all wrong behaviour. Anger can turn any person into bad ways, any moment, and in any form. So, sublimate it first by systematic effort. Welcome gladly anyone who points out your defects; indeed, be grateful to them. Never entertain hatred against them, for that is as bad as hating the "good". You must love the "good" and discard the "bad". Remember, the "bad" should not be hated. It has to be given up, avoided.

In this age of Kali, human beings are moving about like cruel beasts. Compassion and love are vanishing. Ostentatious living is the order of the day. Everyone may claim that they love God. Hardly one in a million is a true lover of God. To deride God during times of adversity and to praise God in conditions of prosperity cannot be called true love of God. Divine love is that which does not flinch in the face of difficulties and does not gloat over prosperity and remains equally serene in all circumstances. Life is full of vicissitudes, which are transient. True love should remain unaffected by weal or woe. As long as you are full of hatred, the world will appear as a hate-filled world. It is only when love is developed that the dualism of good and evil can be transcended and the joy of oneness with the Divine experienced.

Sai Ram Swami's Birthday
It was birthday time. A great occasion to be here. All the love coming from everyone and from Baba. He was happy that we came and blessed everyone.
The curtains surrounding the MahaSamadhi were changed from maroon to orange. The bunting on the first level of the Mandir were changed to white with orange. Many flowers were placed on the Samadhi.
An addition to the streamers over the center white marble was falling lights where the light travels down the streamer.
Kulwant Hall was filled. Everything went smoothly.
Security had increased in the past several days as some government officials and other people arrived. There were many officers outside the ashram and extra one inside. To get into the ashram there was police security and the usual one where the seva dals checked you over. Police were watching them.
Furthermore, to get into the Hall, there were also 2 layers of security check. The first one was police and the second was seva dals.
Wednesday – November 23. When the curtain parted at 9:00, the MahaSamadhi looked absolutely splendid radiating the Love of the people who arranged it. Replacing the regular Baba chair was a big silver one which Baba had used. It added to the grandeur of the days. (Photo).
The chief guest was Governor Konjeti Rosaiah who held several offices in Andhra Pradesh and is now the governor of Tamil Nadu. As a long time devotee of Sai Baba, he has made many trips to the ashram.
The first program was “Guru Vandana” love songs from the students to Baba. After about 30 minutes, it was time for the 2nd Program.
It was the Malladi Brothers who performed regularly at Baba’s request, such as on Birthday and Guru Poornima, for the past several years. Today they performed some of Sai favorite compositions including the Birthday Greeting Song. Their father was with them. He sang a solo in Telegu. Their last tune brought many people to tears as it spoke Baba not being in the physical anymore.
After which, there was a speech by V. Srinivasan, president of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – India. He affirmed that Sai is with us, here and everywhere, now and forever. After praising the students for their wonderful drama of the eve of the convocation, he hoped that Baba would continue to guide these future leaders.
He asked them to rededicate themselves to following Baba’s ideals.
He pledged that our work has to continue until the last moment. We are workers first and later leaders.
Srinivasan explained the Central Trust determination to continue the legacy and mission of Sai Baba. The governor was asked to release the Trust’s Annual Report. There will be additional mobile hospitals, equipment for hospitals, staff infrastructure and facilities for research. Assistance to various schools, digital archiving facility and modernization of the South Indian Canteen and maybe other canteens too.. There are other projects that will happen including expansion of the Vidya Vahini Project.
It is exciting to hear all this. It shows that the ashram is doing well and that there is no funding problem. There are rumors to contrary. It is obvious that they are false.
The report will be on the internet soon. When it is, the report will be sent to you.
All of this was followed by a short talk by Governor Rosaiah. He spoke with humility and devotion. He made a point that whether people felt Baba was god or not, there is still this wonderful organization spread around the world in over 160 countries and millions of members. Baba was and is the force behind all of this. Rosaiah said his greatest achievement was not in the political arena but being a devotee. Prasanthi Nilayam is the holy abode of Rama and Krishna.
Next, it was time for Baba to speak. In ancient times people practiced sacrifice, love and truth to attain divinity. We should do the same as well as exercise equanimity with pleasure and pain.
Since Baba does not criticize anyone, we should do the same. We should always follow Sai’s teachings. We should have Love for god, fear of sin and morality in society.
Develop Love. Love is the only solution. Prayer is a solution.
The various bands played their music. Anantapur played the theme song from Love Story “Where do I begin to tell the story of how great a Love can be…” Prasanthi boys played “Happy Birthday to You”. Also playing were the primary school-both boys and girls.
Arathi was at 11:00.

There was free food for everyone at the tents for lunch as there had been for breakfast.
The afternoon was even better. As we entered the Hall there was a big red enclosure on the center while marble floor. It was beautiful. We knew that the Jhoola was inside waiting for just the right moment to be revealed. The Hall was once again full.
The singing began for the curtain to open at 5:30. At the same time, the box came apart revealing the silver swing jhoola that Baba used to sit in. It was strategically placed so that it looked as though Baba was reclining on the swing. Also placed on the seat of the swing was a photo of Baba sitting on the same swing. (Photo 1). There were flowers and other items around the Jhoola.
It was awe inspiring. Everyone clapped and burst into joy. It was a reconnection of the past with the present. Baba was there sitting in the Jhoola. All were blessed.
People sat behind the Jhoola to push it as was done in previous years. As the swing moved back and forth, at intervals, a special video was shown of Baba sitting on that same swing enjoying the program and blessing us.
It was like we were transported to another era, another place. It was wonderful and it lasted until the music program was over.
The first program was a Mandolin Concert by maestro U. Srinivas and U. Rajesh. Their music was perfect. It was instrumental and raised our level of consciousness. The precise sounds of each instrument added to the joy of listening and feeling. They concluded with “Shankara Shiva Shankara”. (Photo 2).
The second program was a vocal concert by Ghazal and bhajan singer Anup Jalota whose specialty was devotional singing that he adapted to his special style. (Photo 3).
He met Baba 48 years ago as a 10 year old. Baba was responsible for him becoming a singer. The audience was ecstatic as he played and sung for the next 75 minutes.
The many twist and turns blending perfectly with his other players made for incredible listening and a special state of being.
The audience loved him and joined him with clapping or singing. Here was an artist who fine-tuned his abilities to perfection singing from his soul through his heart.
To end the evening, the grand finale was Baba singing “Subramaniam …Subramaniam”. Arathi and darshan followed.

I am really filled with joy when I see people who have engaged in hardy toil and sacrificed their personal comforts in order to make others happy. What the world needs is work done in that spirit. Every one of you has divinity embedded in you, as well as truth and sweetness. Only, you do not know how to manifest that Divinity, how to realise that Truth, how to taste that Sweetness. Courage is the tonic for getting both physical as well as mental health and strength. Give up doubt, hesitation and fear. Do not give any chance for these feelings to strike root in your mind. By means of the inner divine strength with which you are equipped, you can achieve anything; you can even become Maadhava (God).

Fools who cannot grasp the Truth, who cannot recognise Divinity and the power of God, who have no faith in God, live in the delusion that their plans will save them and that they can triumph through their own efforts! The fact is, not even the smallest success can be won without God's grace. Though this is true, we should not sit with folded hands, believing that a thing will accomplish itself if and when God wills. Human effort is essential, and everyone must make efforts. You must use the strength and skill that you are endowed with, and resolve to proceed with the work, laying the responsibility for success on God. For without the grace of God, all effort will be rendered fruitless.

There are three types of Surrender (Saranagathi). The first one is Thavai-vaaham, where the devotee affirms "I am Yours" , the second is Mamai-vathwam, where one asserts "You are mine" and the last is, Thwame-vaaham which means "You and I are one". Each is a step that leads to the other and the last is the ultimate state. In the first stage, Thav-eva-aham, the Lord is completely free and the devotee is fully bound. Just like the cat and the kitten - the cat shifts the new born kitten about, as it wills; the kitten just mews and accepts whatever happens. This attitude is very gentle and is within easy reach of everyone. In the second, Mama-eva-thwam, the devotee binds the Lord in his heart and the Lord willingly remains bound. A devotee can tie up the Lord with Prema (love) that overwhelms and overpowers one’s own egoism. When one has this type of devotion (Bhakthi), the grace of the Lord fulfills every single need of the devotee.

The curtains surrounding the MahaSamadhi were changed from maroon to orange. The bunting on the first level of the Mandir were changed to white with orange. Many flowers were placed on the Samadhi.
An addition to the streamers over the center white marble was falling lights where the light travels down the streamer.
Kulwant Hall was filled. Everything went smoothly.
Security had increased in the past several days as some government officials and other people arrived. There were many officers outside the ashram and extra one inside. To get into the ashram there was police security and the usual one where the seva dals checked you over. Police were watching them.
Furthermore, to get into the Hall, there were also 2 layers of security check. The first one was police and the second was seva dals.
Wednesday – November 23. When the curtain parted at 9:00, the MahaSamadhi looked absolutely splendid radiating the Love of the people who arranged it. Replacing the regular Baba chair was a big silver one which Baba had used. It added to the grandeur of the days. (Photo).
The chief guest was Governor Konjeti Rosaiah who held several offices in Andhra Pradesh and is now the governor of Tamil Nadu. As a long time devotee of Sai Baba, he has made many trips to the ashram.
The first program was “Guru Vandana” love songs from the students to Baba. After about 30 minutes, it was time for the 2nd Program.
It was the Malladi Brothers who performed regularly at Baba’s request, such as on Birthday and Guru Poornima, for the past several years. Today they performed some of Sai favorite compositions including the Birthday Greeting Song. Their father was with them. He sang a solo in Telegu. Their last tune brought many people to tears as it spoke Baba not being in the physical anymore.
After which, there was a speech by V. Srinivasan, president of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – India. He affirmed that Sai is with us, here and everywhere, now and forever. After praising the students for their wonderful drama of the eve of the convocation, he hoped that Baba would continue to guide these future leaders.
He asked them to rededicate themselves to following Baba’s ideals.
He pledged that our work has to continue until the last moment. We are workers first and later leaders.
Srinivasan explained the Central Trust determination to continue the legacy and mission of Sai Baba. The governor was asked to release the Trust’s Annual Report. There will be additional mobile hospitals, equipment for hospitals, staff infrastructure and facilities for research. Assistance to various schools, digital archiving facility and modernization of the South Indian Canteen and maybe other canteens too.. There are other projects that will happen including expansion of the Vidya Vahini Project.
It is exciting to hear all this. It shows that the ashram is doing well and that there is no funding problem. There are rumors to contrary. It is obvious that they are false.
The report will be on the internet soon. When it is, the report will be sent to you.
All of this was followed by a short talk by Governor Rosaiah. He spoke with humility and devotion. He made a point that whether people felt Baba was god or not, there is still this wonderful organization spread around the world in over 160 countries and millions of members. Baba was and is the force behind all of this. Rosaiah said his greatest achievement was not in the political arena but being a devotee. Prasanthi Nilayam is the holy abode of Rama and Krishna.
Next, it was time for Baba to speak. In ancient times people practiced sacrifice, love and truth to attain divinity. We should do the same as well as exercise equanimity with pleasure and pain.
Since Baba does not criticize anyone, we should do the same. We should always follow Sai’s teachings. We should have Love for god, fear of sin and morality in society.
Develop Love. Love is the only solution. Prayer is a solution.
The various bands played their music. Anantapur played the theme song from Love Story “Where do I begin to tell the story of how great a Love can be…” Prasanthi boys played “Happy Birthday to You”. Also playing were the primary school-both boys and girls.
Arathi was at 11:00.

There was free food for everyone at the tents for lunch as there had been for breakfast.
The afternoon was even better. As we entered the Hall there was a big red enclosure on the center while marble floor. It was beautiful. We knew that the Jhoola was inside waiting for just the right moment to be revealed. The Hall was once again full.
The singing began for the curtain to open at 5:30. At the same time, the box came apart revealing the silver swing jhoola that Baba used to sit in. It was strategically placed so that it looked as though Baba was reclining on the swing. Also placed on the seat of the swing was a photo of Baba sitting on the same swing. (Photo 1). There were flowers and other items around the Jhoola.
It was awe inspiring. Everyone clapped and burst into joy. It was a reconnection of the past with the present. Baba was there sitting in the Jhoola. All were blessed.
People sat behind the Jhoola to push it as was done in previous years. As the swing moved back and forth, at intervals, a special video was shown of Baba sitting on that same swing enjoying the program and blessing us.
It was like we were transported to another era, another place. It was wonderful and it lasted until the music program was over.
The first program was a Mandolin Concert by maestro U. Srinivas and U. Rajesh. Their music was perfect. It was instrumental and raised our level of consciousness. The precise sounds of each instrument added to the joy of listening and feeling. They concluded with “Shankara Shiva Shankara”. (Photo 2).
The second program was a vocal concert by Ghazal and bhajan singer Anup Jalota whose specialty was devotional singing that he adapted to his special style. (Photo 3).
He met Baba 48 years ago as a 10 year old. Baba was responsible for him becoming a singer. The audience was ecstatic as he played and sung for the next 75 minutes.
The many twist and turns blending perfectly with his other players made for incredible listening and a special state of being.
The audience loved him and joined him with clapping or singing. Here was an artist who fine-tuned his abilities to perfection singing from his soul through his heart.
To end the evening, the grand finale was Baba singing “Subramaniam …Subramaniam”. Arathi and darshan followed.

It's All Ego
I've been wanting to write this one for days because it's something I learned myself with no prompting from anyone.
I think many of us...OK, OK, I think that 'I'....had a huge spiritual ego when I came back home from India. I may still have a somewhat tattered portion of it even now. See, I was a disciple of the Kali Yuga Avatar. That made me very important. Not only that but I had lived at His feet for over 30 years. None of the people around me could say that. I felt that my words, my ideas were more important than anyone else's because 'The Lord' was pretty much speaking through me. Not in a weird way, not channeling or anything but certainly He was in control of my words and thoughts. Why wouldn't that be true. Oh sure I could be mistaken, I could lose my moorings upon occasion but...I was, I am...His disciple after all. As a matter of fact, I lived INSIDE the ashram for all that time. He wanted me near Him so...Lord only knows what great person I was in another life time to deserve such Grace from the Kali Yuga Avatar.
And that was just my underlying attitude with my family...though it was subconscious I must admit. I never really thought these things to myself or anyone else but...you know ego is so tricky that it fools us all the time. And we must be alert and on the look out for it's ugly head sticking up here and there.
My family has a bit of an ego thing about our ancestry anyway so I had it coming and going. For this reason, Mama always said we were better than other people, I didn't feel that I was but that damned ego is right there under the surface.
This Senior living situation is unique too. You have a bunch of old people who have already lived long lives as important people in their families, mothers, fathers, grandparents. And now we live here together...but separate...all equal now with none of us being better than anyone else. That in itself is difficult but when you have this ancestry thing its more so...Then you add to that the fact that I'm pretty much a Hindu who lived all those years at the Lotus Feet of the Lord Incarnate, and you've got yourself an impossible situation.
So it's impossible but it doesn't really matter because I can come home and close my front door to the world. But what DOES matter is that I stumbled into my sister's house a year and a half ago, feeling that I was going 'to save them all' with my superior wisdom and superior love, gleamed from living with the Avatar. And, of course, I didn't know I had this attitude which made it much more difficult to work with. They didn't think I was better than they were in any way just because I believed in Sathya Sai Baba...and lived INSIDE the ashram.
This is important. Try to see yourself as just an ordinary person, not REALIZED in any way. See yourself as others see you. You know maybe our spiritual work has benefited us in many ways, spiritually...but that's just inside, that's just at the ATMIC level. Let's hope the real difference between us and everyone else is that we can LOVE more, that we can have more compassion and broadmindedness...but let's not get carried away over that either because it develops EGO...watch out for that smirky little head.

St. Peter
You know I just re-read yesterday's blog this morning and it wasn't all that good. I don't think I made myself clear. The point is, just because you're on the 'spiritual path', don't think you're any better than anyone else. I think I came back to the west with that feeling and it really separates us from everyone else, from ordinary people. As a matter of fact everyone is on the spiritual path whether they know it or not because everyone is, in reality, the pure unsullied Atma.
Yesterday Christine and I went to Publix market to shop for food for two weeks. We took my huge wire cart and she dragged it on and off the city bus. Our Neighborly Bus now only picks us up twice a week instead of every week because of 'cut-backs'. The economy is causing pain everywhere.
There was a lady in a wheelchair on the bus causing the driver, a hefty lady, to park, get up and undue the lock which kept the chair from rolling, before pushing the chair out the door. All the city buses are well equipped with ramps and locks for this purpose. Also in front of the bus is a rack for a couple of bicycles . All of this is new to me because I'm been gone so long and I am amazed. It's truly awesome. And I thought, “What a wonderful person that driver is to do all that for an elderly person . She's paid to drive this huge bus all around and also she has to be sort of a care taker and nurse too. That's really great, isn't it? Now she is really doing service.
As a mater of fact I was thinking this morning what a great place St. Petersburg is for the elderly and infirmed. So this morning I thanked St. Peter for all the blessings we enjoy here. I really don't know anything about His life except that He was also crucified. He wasn't in 'the Room' with the others so I don't think He wasn't one of the 12 disciples. I know so little about the Bible, don't have one. I know! I'll Google Saint Peter and let youall know what I find out! Anyway I do feel His grace here at Peterborough Apartments in St. Petersburg, reading the St. Petersburg Times every morning and riding the St. Petersburg city buses. See, that tells us right there how much Grace He is giving to us.
This morning when all of this was going through my head another thought super-imposed itself . It is all done in the name of Jesus Christ. Well, of course that is true and we are always aware of how much is done in the name of Jesus Christ,,,and also the name of Buddha and even Mohamed... but I'm not sure about that either. I think in Islam everything is done for Allah alone. I always thought of Allah as being like the Atma, being everything there is. It's really all the same and just a question of different names and forms. The Holy Ghost, the absolute, Atma and Allah are all the one aren't they? Wow, am I showing my ignorance! Now where does our Swami fit in or does He? I really wish I hadn't started this thing. Our Swami is the KaliYuga Avatar who is not very well known over here in the west. Doesn't matter because we know there is ONLY ONE GOD AND HE HAS MANY NAMES. AND FOR THAT REASON, SATHYA SAI BABA IS THE ABSOLUTE, THE HOLY SPIRIT. THE HOLY GHOST, JESUS AND ST PETER... AND YOU AND ME BECAUSE GOD IS ALL THERE IS!
